Privacy policy
GALA asks only for the information it needs to reply to you and to plan events. This page tells you what we collect, who can see it and how long we keep it.
Who we are
GALA is the Gibson and Landsdale Area Community Planning Team, a resident-led neighbourhood group in Ward 3, Hamilton, Ontario. HSC Media runs this website and the GALA shared inbox on behalf of GALA. HSC Media is a member of the GALA executive committee.
What we collect
This website does not ask you to make an account. GALA does not use cookies, visitor statistics, tracking or advertising on this website.
We collect information only when you send it to us:
- Contact form: the topic, your name, your email address or phone number, your message and, if you choose, the street you live near.
- Event registration form: the event, the name of the registering adult, an email address or phone number, the number of people and children, children's ages and gift choice, dietary restrictions and other notes. We do not ask for children's names. You can also choose to let GALA contact you about future events.
- Email: what you write and your email address, when you email GALA.
- Photos: photos that you send to us, and your two consent answers: one for this website and one for GALA's social media.
How we use it
- To reply to your question or message.
- To plan events: head counts, food, and gifts.
- To tell you about future events, but only if you said yes to this on the registration form.
- To post events that you send to us.
- To post photos that you send to us, only in the places you said yes to: this website, GALA's social media, or both.
GALA does not sell your information. GALA does not use it for advertising. GALA does not give it to other groups or businesses, unless the law requires it.
Who can see it
Only GALA executive committee members who need your information to reply to you or to run an event can see it.
Email to GALA goes to a shared inbox. HSC Media runs this inbox on behalf of GALA. The GALA executive committee, of which HSC Media is a member, agrees jointly on all replies and other communication from this inbox.
How long we keep it
- Event registrations: we delete them after the event.
- Future event contacts: if you said yes to hearing about future events, we keep your name and your email address or phone number on a GALA contact list. We keep it until you ask us to stop. To stop, reply to any GALA message or use the contact form.
- Messages and email: we delete them when we no longer need them to reply to you or to follow up.
- Photos: we keep posted photos until you or another person in the photo asks us to remove them. We keep your consent answers for as long as the photo is posted. We can delete GALA's own social media posts, but we cannot remove copies that other people made or shared.
Services we use
GALA uses other services to run this website. When you use the website, these services can receive some information, such as your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply.

- Cloudflare runs the website address and delivers email to GALA. Cloudflare privacy policy
Some pages link to other websites, such as Facebook, Instagram and OpenStreetMap. When you open those links, the privacy policy of that website applies.
Your choices
You can ask GALA to show you, correct or delete the information that we have about you. You can also ask us to remove a photo of you. Use the contact form to make a request.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top of this page.
